Entombed is the latest game designed and created by Chaos Concepts, a
new player in the entertainment software arena. Entombed boasts 640 x 480
hi-res game interface, breath taking ray traced graphics, digital audio
and five intricate levels.
This is the ULTIMATE PUZZLE ADVENTURE where you play the role of an
archaeologist who becomes trapped in an ancient tomb. Alone you must
navigate your way through deadly traps, intricate puzzles and
involved mazes, as you try to escape from this harsh captor, before
it claims another victim.
Deciphering information from the hieroglyphic inscriptions, you will
discover that the previous civilization was highly advanced, maybe
your not in a tomb after all, but a structure of more clandestine
intentions. You also discover the remains of others have been here
before you - Grave robbers? Fortunately you find the diary of another
explorer who also became trapped in the tomb, many years ago, it
proves to be invaluable in your quest to survive. So what did become
of the race that created this vast underground metropolis, and what
is its purpose? Communication with another realm? Time travel?

How to install Entombed 1.7 for Windows on your hard drive:
1A. If you have downloaded Entombed as an archive, then make sure that
you have download all four archives. These are named entv17A.zip
through to entv17D.zip. Unzip the contents of these archives onto
a floppy disk or separate directory.
1B. If you have received Entombed on two floppy disks directly from a
vendor, then this has already been done for you.
2. Place the disk 1 in the floppy drive of your computer.
3. Open the file menu of the Windows program manager and select Run.
4. In the Run dialogue box, type A:ESETUP or B:ESETUP, or as is
appropriate.
5. Now that you are in the INSTALL utility, confirm that you have all
the necessary requirements to install Entombed Episode 1.
6. Next you may choose to modify the drive and directory Entombed will
be installed on to.
7. Once Entombed is installed, return to the program manager, if
installation was successful, there should be a new group added to
your program manager, within it the Entombed program and these notes.
Double click the Entombed icon to run the program.
8. If this is the first time you have installed Entombed, then you will
be prompted as to whether to install Entombed as a group within your
program manager. At this time, you can also select the sound options
you require. If you are not sure which ones match your sound card
then you should leave these options unchecked and consult your sound
card documentation. You can change these options later from within
the Entombed games' configuration menu. Once the program group is
created, Entombed will begin.
IMPORTANT: If you don't have a sound card installed on your system
then make sure that the sound options are turned off.
Otherwise the timing of sound dependent actions within
Entombed will be incorrect.
How to start and quit entombed:
To Start Entombed, open the Chaos Concepts program manager window,
then double click on the Entombed icon.
For more instructions click on the [?] button from within Entombed,
to bring up on-line help.
To Quit Entombed holding down the ALT key press the F4 key.
Release notes:
System requirements:
Entombed requires Windows 3.1 or better, a mouse, a 386 CPU or better,
2 megabytes of system ram, a 512k SVGA display card and driver that
supports the 640 x 480 25 color SVGA mode, Dos 5.0 or better and 3 Mb
of free hard disk space.
Entombed Error Messages:
Error (1) - 256 color display mode not detected (message box)
This error appears if the game doesn't detect a 256 color video display
driver. To install the driver, double click on the Windows Setup icon,
select change System Settings from the options menu then choose the
correct 256 color video driver for your hardware. Suitable video drivers
can be obtained from most reputable hardware vendors. Windows 3.11 for
Workgroups users can install Microsoft's SVGA 640x480 256 color driver.
Consult your Microsoft Windows manual or phone your dealer for more
details.
Entombed extended setup - required files missing (dialogue box)
This error will be reported if files required by Entombed are missing
or if you have renamed the Entombed directory. Either enter the name
of the new entombed directory, or if you suspect that a file is missing,
re-install Entombed.
Midi problems:
In the event that your sound driver fails, you will need to reload
your midi driver. Do this by running the "drivers" utility within
the windows control panel. Click on "add" and select your existing
sound driver from the list. Click on "current" and then select
"restart windows". This will reset your midi driver. The registered
version of Entombed does NOT have any midi requirements, all audio
is digital.
Midi mapping:
If you have a midi sound device, you will need to map it to general
midi using the "MIDI mapper" utility within the windows control panel.
If you have a sound blaster card then make sure you have the latest
drivers.
